Almaty Regional Government (infrastructure) – advised on infrastructure projects
Valut-Tranzit Bank JSC (“VTB”) (financial services) - appointed to advise on the operational and financial restructuring of this bankassurance group. VTB was formed in 1996 and provided a full range of retail banking, foreign exchange, insurance, pension fund and other activities through the third largest distribution network in the country with 283 branches and 5,000 staff. The initial due diligence process uncovered financial and operational abnormalities, and at the request of the shareholders and the authorities, we were appointed to crisis manage the group until liquidation of the assets could be initiated by the Regulator.
OJSC Bukhtarma Cement Company (“BCC”) advised a principal shareholder on the sale of BCC to German cement group HeidelbergCement. BCC operates a cement plant in Bukharma in eastern Kazakhstan, 100 kilometres south of the town of Ust-Kamenogorsk and owns Vostok Cement, one of the country’s leading cement distributors.
CaspiCement LLP (“Caspi”) (cement) - advised on the sale of a minority stake in this greenfield cement project in Mangistausky Raion near Aktau, Kazakhstan. The principal shareholder in the project is the German cement group HeidelbergCement.
Jambyl Cement Production Company LLP (cement) – advised on financial and operational strategy for this greenfield cement plant project which is majority owned by Vicat, France.
Orient Petroleum (Central Asia) Ltd (oil & gas) – advised this Hashoo Group subsidiary on field investments in Kazakhstan.
